Week 4 book blog

(should be at least 3 paragraphs)

After analyzing your main character in a closer manner, you should now be able to compare and contrast that character with the main character from the class read. In an H-chart or in paragraph form, compare and contrast these two characters. Determine which one you identify the most with and why.

Jonas from The Giver,

In Jonas world, money is not a problem. Everything is fair, no one is poor, no one is rich. Everything is provide for them, they don't have to worried about food or cloths or any other things. The only vehicle they have is bicycle, they each get one when they turned 12. They don't have technology or book, well they have book but they're not suppose to read it, only the giver can. Jonas society have to do whatever the government said. Boring life.

The boy from Sounder,

In the world that the boy lived in, it is a free world. You can do what ever you want but you still can't break the law. In the boy world, his family have to work for food, they have to hunt for food. If you want something you have to work for it

week 3 book blog

(Be sure to include quote and page number!!)

You must use at LEAST 2 quotes from the book.
Understanding your character is a good way for you to really get into your book and see from another person's perspective. In your response this week, describe your character. Think about and discuss:
-1. your main character's personality
- 2. how they act/behave
- 3. what they look like
- 4. how old they are
- 5 what sort of education do you think that they have
- 6 who their friends and family are
- 7 what their financial (money) situation is
- 8 and what their job is (if they have one).

Right now I am on the last chapter of Sounder by William H. Armstrong. My main character is a brave young boy. He left home to look for his dad and his dog, by him self in a in another city where he doesn't know anyone there. His dad was capture for some reason, it doesn't said it in the book. Sounder  (The dog) ran after the people that capture the boy dad. My main character in my book be have very nice. Even though he don't have a high education but he always give people good respect. My character have a very dark skin, he have very short hair, that's all I know because they never describe the boy in the book. So I just try my best to describe the boy by the cover. My main character is about my age, he is 14 years old. He have to walk for 3 miles to get to school. This boy doesn't have much education, be cause his school is too far for walking and his mom don't want him to walk that far. He said his family has four member, his mom, his dad, him, and Sounder. But he already lost 2 member of his family. This boy is very poor, in the book they don't talk about how the family get money but to get food, they have to hunt for animals. Their job is to hunt, the mom stay at home and do the house work, the dad and the boy and Sounder have to go hunt. The dad and the boy kills animals, Sounder help them find animals and sometime kills small animal like a squirrel or a rat. On this last chapter I'm pretty sure the boy going to find his dad and Sounder and they live haply ever after... Or not. I'm just predicting.

Week 2 Book Blog

Review the book description found on the back cover of your book. Using the information, and this information alone, construct two alternate titles for the book that appeal to you.Pick one of the two titles and create a catch phrase and movie poster. Describe (using language that will explain what you are talking about so that we can "see" it) the movie poster to sell the new titled novel.

Right now I am finishing the book call Sounder. Now my teacher told me to make a movie poster for this book, and also give two new tittle for the book base on the back of the book.

Alternative title #1: The Lost Dog

Alternative title #2: The Forest

For the catch phrase I would say " don't get lost looking for a lost thing" I don't know if this make scene to you guys but it just pop in my head so I write it down.

If I have to make a movie poster it would look like the description as followed. On the top of the book it would be orange sky (dawn). On the left of the book would be a forest cover in black ink and there is a white ink dog in the middle of he forest. On the left side of the book would be a boy with white ink and a black back ground. At the bottom of the book would be the tittle with Italics and with white ink.

Week 1 3/21/11

Give the title, author, publisher, copyright date, genre (how do you know the genre - from the back of the book, the title page, the text?), a description of the cover of the book, and the main character(s) you have met so far and on what page you first met them.

Right now I am reading Sounder by Armstrong H. William. This book was published by Harper Collins and Copyright (C) in 1969.  Same publisher with Ms.Luthey book I am number four.

I think the genre of this book is realistic-fiction Because Ms.Luthey told me. Another way I know this book genre is realistic-fiction because what happen in the book could happen in real life but also could not happen.

I pick this book out because I want to finish it, and plus I think it's a pretty interesting book. Because we read it in our lit group. And it's easy to read. Its about how the boy have to go find a his dog and looking for his father.

The cover of this book is not interesting at all, because a boy and a dog in the cover is not going to catch the reader's eye.   Even as an adult I don't think I would read it.But the book won a NewBery Medal according to the book cover.

The boy in the background is the main chracter. And the dog is his pet. I met my main character at the begining of pg.1. The boy and his father was walking one day, and Sounder (the dog) came to the family. And one day the pollice came and took his dad away and Sounder run after the pollice and got shot. But Sounder did'nt die. The author is writing this book on a 3rd person, so I don't know the character name. Altho in the character note, he does said that the boy father name is Lob.

We've been looking and studying how we relate to our characters and the real world around us. Now it's time to put yourself into your character's shoes. Thinking about the main character of your book, consider what you would do in their situation.  1. What would your reactions be? 2. How would you handle the situation? 3. What would you do differently? Be sure to use complete sentences and EVIDENCE to support yoRur thinking
Right now I'm still reading The Revenge of The Shadow King. By Derek Benz & J.S. Lewis. If I were in my character shoes I wold freak out and hope that its just a dream. I wold call the police and tell them what is really going on so that they can protect me. I wold freak out because I don't want to have to deal with a bunch of dangerous creature everyday. And I don't want the whole world life to depend on me.I don't want to have a teacher that is a witch that always trying to kill me when there are no people around. " If Logan didn't come, Morgan Lafey would of killed me. I owe Logan again". I can not handle this character case, I do not have the gut to do what my character are doing. Its not that I cant but I need friends and  family to help me, if we all together then we can defend our world. But it is not easy to make people believe you. Not everyone will have the same thought. If I were in this world, I wold wold study about witches and goblin and find out how to destroy them. The task that my character have is very hard, the hold world depend on his hand. If he die the shadow king will take over the world. I'm not sure what can I do but I will tell you guys when I finish the book.

11/2/2010 Respond

why do you say the woods are weird and crazy?

Jordyn, I said that the woods is weird and crazy but I meant to say the the woods is spooky and creepy. In the book the author describe the woods very neat, (The woods look like a ship in the mist). So this is why I think the woods is creepy.

Week 7

It is important for readers to understand what is happening in their books, who the characters are and what the theme is. In your response, outline the following: Plot, Setting, Characters, and Universal Theme. Provide evidence to support your thinking from your book.

This week plot is the group was lost in the wood. Last week is max have to decide should he go in the wood or not. Now they enter the wood. And Natalia already mark the way as they go, but the forest is very weird. When they keep going, they found a spot that they already mark, and Harley just realizes that there are many mark in deferent place that look the same too.

I think the universal theme for this plot is Human Nature. I say that because the group is in the forest, and forest is part of nature. The group enter a weird forest, and the forest is like a maze. the setting in this plot is the woods, midnight. The conflict is Character vs. Nature and Character vs. Supernatural.
